EVENTS: HOPE-FILLED ART EXHIBITION SINGAPORE
Launched by Professor Kenneth Kwek, CEO of the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on 30 May 2018, 26 selected digital artworks by the late Mr Martin See Tho were displayed on the Arts Expression wall at SGH Blk 2 till 30 Aug 2018. The exhibition was extended by a week and ended on 7 Sep 2018.
To thank the healthcare teams that looked after Martin during his illness, Sandra donated four of the 26 pieces to SGH and National Neuroscience Institute (NNI). The first two artworks, “Win in Life” (Dedicated Piece) will be on display permanently at SGH after the exhibition period and “Collage of Colours” (Edition 1/5)” will be displayed at the new Outram Community Hospital coming up in 2020. Sandra hopes that the artworks displayed on the walls of the hospital will enliven patients’ spirits with positive energy and colours of hope.
The other two art pieces, “Cells (Edition 1/5)” and “Kingfisher (Edition 1/5)”, also raised significant funds for the NNI Health Research Endowment Fund (HREF). The NNI HREF supports programmes that promote the progress and advancement of neuroscience in Singapore.
In addition to the paintings, the books written by Sandra, “The Hope-filled Art of Martin See Tho” and “Love and Compassion”, were also put on sale at the SGH Retail Cart to help raise fund for the Needy Patients Fund.
The display was a compilation of hope, optimism and immeasurable grit, which would encourage other patients to live life and to never give up in the face of adversity. It is envisioned that Martin’s unique collection of digital art will become a beacon of hope in medical institutions around the world.
